Default Banh mi ga nem/nuong. Vietnamese Sandwich

Thanks to the French for introducing the baguette's we now have a sandwish called Banh mi, to make this sandwich....

French baguettes
Chicken or Nem Nuong
1 Liverwurst log
Fresh Cilantro
Cucumber sliced into thin flat strips
Sliced Onion
Sliced Jalapeno
Mayo (Vietnamese mayo if you have it) will have to post a recipe for this at a later time.
Soy Sauce
Black Pepper
Pickled carrots/daikon (recipe below)

To make the pickled carrots/daikon.

Take 1 part carrots and 1 part daikon then slice them up as thin as you can, either in match sticks or thin strips. Place them into a colander and put a lot of salt maybe up to 1/4 cup onto the carrots and daikon, mix them up a bit and let them sit for awhile. The goal is to allow the salt to draw the moisture out of the carrots and daikon mix. After 10-15 minutes rinse the carrot and daikon mixture then squeeze to try and remove as much liquid as you can. Rinse them again then squeeze them again. Try a piece of carrot, if it doesnt taste salty then you are ready to move on.

Take a container and add 2 parts water, 1 part vinegar and 1 part sugar mix until everything is dissolved, Go ahead and add the carrots/daikon the goal is to have enough fluid to cover the carrot/daikon mix. Cover and let sit for 2-3 days or until pickled. You can eat it right away but it wont be as good.

To make the sandwiches.

Start by mixing the liverwurst with about 2 TBS worth of fresh sliced thin cilantro and black pepper. just mix everything til its a nice paste. Set aside.

Take your French baguettes and place them under the broiler to toast them, once they're toasted, cut them open leaving one side attached. Open the bread up and put mayo on the top side and the liverwurst spread on the bottom, add your meat of choice, then build from there with the rest of the list. once everything is on, drizzle a little bit of soy sauce over it then enjoy!

Left over liverwurst can still be used as a spread for crackers or bread, YUM

To make the nem nuong, you can find in your local asian markets a package that has raw nem nuong meat in it, form the meat into either patties or balls and grill/broil them till they're done. I would post a picture of the package but I forgot to shoot it, and for some reason I can't find any pictures of the package on google, I can only find already made nem nuong.

That looks so good!

Is nem nuoung the pork patty? I've been trying to find that at my Asian market, but have no clue what the packaging looks like.

How long do the pickled radish and carrots last in the fridge?

Yes, but it comes in raw ground up form, you have to make it into patties or stick it on a stick. As soon as I find a picture of the package I'll post it,

As for the picked stuff, guessing 2-3 weeks. maybe longer, it is pickled so who knows, it might last a a really long time. it last about a week at my place before its all gone.
