| This can be made with either Short Ribs, or rib eye. This recipe serves 2 people. 1LB rib eye or short ribs. Marinade: 1/2 cup soy sauce 2 TBS sesame oil 1 TBS honey 2 TBS brown sugar 4 cloves of garlic minced 1 TBS ginger 1 peeled and grated Asian pear, if in a bind normal US pears should be fine, also a few Korean friends of mine use other fruits like Kiwi. Sounds weird but it works. just make sure to peel them and get as much juice from the fruit as you can. 1 small onion sliced thin 1/2 cup of green onion 1 TBS fresh ground black pepper 1 TBS fresh ground dried redpepper 2 TBS toasted sesame seeds If you're using rib eye, try to buy it sliced thin, most Asian markets sell it this way, if you buy it from a local store ask them to slice it thin, or place it in the freezer for about 20 minutes so it will be easier to work with, then slice it about 1/8" thick. place all the ingredients for the marinade in a bowl, when it comes time to grate the pear, I find using a cheese grater works grate (drum roll). just place the grater over the bowl holding the marinade so when you grate the pear all the juices falls into the marinade. Once you have everything in the bowl, place your beef into a ziplock bag, then pour the marinade over top the beef. remove as much air as possible and then place the bag into a bowl or some kind of tray just in case it leaks, place in fridge for at least 1 hour, 12 hours would be better, but 1 hour is enough to make a yummy tasting dish. When you're ready to cook them... If cooking ribeye simply heat up a pan, and dump about half the meat into it so it doesn't over crowd. If cooking short ribs, I find it better to grill them. but I've also had good luck with pan frying. I like to serve the meat over sticky rice, or even better make bibimbap with it. to make this Place a mound of sticky rice in a large bowl, then place items around the rice, on side have your beef, then work your way around the bowl using... Sauted Bean Sprouts, Spinach, Mushrooms, Gochujang(red pepper paste,) Cucumber, Zucchini, Lettuce, Carrot, Fried Egg Note, I did not have a bowl large enough so I simply used a plate, it wasn't very traditional but it got the job done.
