its a little bit of an old thread but oh well...

Tom Yum as in the Thai soup? Typically beef isn't use as its best with any kind of seafood or chicken.

1.Chicken stock
2.choice of chicken/shrimp/fish or other seafood
3.thai chili pepper
4.mushroom of any kind
5.lemon grass
6.lime leaf
7.galanga root
8.tomato
fish sauce
lime juice
sugar
cilantro

(easy method)
combine ingredient 1-8 cook until rolling boil.
start with 1tbs each of fish sauce and lime juice and a pinch of sugar then adjust to taste. Then add to soup. Add cilantro and enjoy.
