Default Teriyaki Steak

Teriyaki Steak:

things you need:

1 good chunk of steak, your choice, no bones!!!
1 bottle of teriyaki marinade for steak (generic-brand will work fine or your choice)
salt
pepper
zip lock bag

directions:

Take steak and defrost, make sure its not frozen. Wash the steak with cold water, rubbing out all the preservatives. Then take the salt and pepper, lightly coat each side and rub in salt and pepper, afterward take a zip lock bag put steak inside, pour teriyaki marinade into bag, enough so that it covers/coats the entire steak with some left over. Place inside refrigerator 8-12 hours before you are going to eat it, since it needs to soak.

After 8-12 hours when you are ready to eat it, take it out of frig for 20 mins before cooking. Turn on your oven to 400degrees. Take a normal pan, or a grill pan for your stove, make sure it DOES NOT have a rubber or wooden handle (read on to see why). Place tin foil inside so that it covers the the entire area around the steak (for the juice). Place grill pan on stove and pre-heat for 5-10 mins, you can add butter so it doesn't burn but it doesn't really matter, just need to get it up to temp. Then place steak onto tin foil inside center of grill pan. You can put a grill press on top of the steak, you don't have to (I did out of habit). Leave steak on each side for approx. 3-5 mins, or until it gets cooked on each side. Do this 4 times, so 2 times a side. The steak may seem slightly rare, pink or red on the side, if it does you can do another rotation until it doesn't look pink or red on the side (unless you like it like that). Take grill pan and place it into the oven (which should be ready by then. Leave steak in oven for approx 8-15 mins (to cook the inside). Depending on how rare you want it you can cut back on the time, I like mine well done so this time-set is good for it.

During all this, you can cook up some fries, or potatoes/chopped or whole-baked to compliment it. I used some store-brand fries which I cooked in canola oil for 10 mins until they were crispy.

After the allotted time and/or you feel as though its done, take steak out of oven, cut about 1/2 inch into the middle to make sure its done. put it on a plate, hopefully the rest is done, then serve immediately. If you have to have steak sauce, as many people do, use an extremely mild one.

Next time I do this I'll post pix.

Enjoy! ;)
