Default Bananna Bread

This is off the top of my head --Cuz I never wrote it down --I pretty much made this up

3-4 VERY ripe Banannas--The darker the better, I use them when theres no way Id eat them
1/3 cup butter
2/3 cup dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 cup Quaker Oats
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup nuts ---ur choice ---But I add dried cherrys or fresh cut up apple ---what ever--

Puree banannas
Cream butter and sugar til fluffy then beat in banannas and eggs--and cherrys ,apple --cranberry whatever
Combine flour, oats, soda, powder,Add slowly to bananna mixture with buttermilk---Stir in nuts if u use them
Pour into greased 9x5 loaf pan ---Bake in preheated 350 50-60 minutes ---But start chkin with toothpick @ just under 50 minutes ---Dont over bake it !!!!cool 10 minutes and remove from pan ------Its Good !!!!

We need 2 other catagories here---- Breads and Southern Cooking!!!!

I'll make another forum for bread, that is something I over looked.

As far as the southern cooking forum goes, for now, just place a southern style, in front of your dish name. and place the thread in one of the meat/veggie categories. If and when this site gets large enough I'll add a forum just for southern cooking.

I'm trying to stay away from too many forums with not enough members to fill them.

Question about your recipe. do you use instant oats, rolled oats, or normal oats?

Makes sense on the sub forum deal as* far as Southern ---I use the regular "Old Fashoned" Quaker Oats ---Not the quickys- I use enough flour to for it to do its Flour thing then the oats to just give it more body. Lots of fresh apple chunks in it are really good. This loaf of bread is like 2 LBs
The original recipe called for 2 banannas and 2 cups flours plus the other stuff---

Forgot too --Its good with cinninom and or Nutmeg in it -----Also what Iv done is used almonds and a little almond extract---- Forgot also that the original calls for white sugar---The browns better

Basic white sugar and whatever milk you have on hand.

butter milk really does add a nice flavor to things. however, you could still make it with out it. just know it wont be 100% =)
