Kitchen Aid stand mixer, one of the must haves in any kitchen! This bad boy will mix almost anything, I've run mine for 15 minutes straight kneeding doughs with zero strain on the mixer.

Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles recipe book. Pretty complex recipes but he breaks them down for you. This book will teach you how to handle dinner parties making you think with that worked in a restaurant type of mind set.
