| clarified butter is a delicious way to fry shyte, but if you care about your heart, go with peanut or olive. peanut oil has a higher smoke point than olive oil, and i think you can actually deep fry w/ it too... but i ain't no chef. i could make the joke about 15w50 but i wont. |

| Junior Member | I thought they stopped using it due to peanut allergies being so common. *shrug* I would use canola (or rapeseed depending on where you are from) as a frying oil- olive oil breaks down too quickly to use to fry potatos. On the other hand, if you are going to bake your fries, a drizzle of olive oil and some herbs are just the trick.
