I would love more counter room. I like having my mixer out since it's used all to often, but a lot of the other stuff could be put away. however, every one of my cabinets are filled =( I have yet another order coming in tomorrow from a major restaurant supply warehouse. I have a business account with them (though my work) sigh I have no idea where Im going to put the stuff. picked up a 8qt 4qt and 2 qt storage bins and another half baking sheet. I cant wait to move into larger kitchen. Maybe next year.....

I live in NY.. space is ALWAYS at a premium. I wish I had more counterspace too, but I wind up using the island as my work area and that gives me a bit more room. Unfortunately, if I am making a standard weekday dinner and am going to eat at the stools in the last pic (instead of the dining room), then I have to clean the entire thing off before eating. I am very jealous of your stand mixer. I have wanted to pick one up for the lsat few years, but have no place to store it. It would have to go in a storage unit in the basement of my apt. building, but then I would have to drag it upstairs for every use. PITA.

I'm a firm believer in a kitchen looking like a kitchen. Slap that stand mixer on your counter and call it a day =) Most people that look at the normal persons kitchen goes, you have nice colors and your floor tiles are nice yada yada yada. I think all too often people forget a kitchen is really a place where some people still make real food. Most empty and super clean kitchens make me think of one thing. TV Dinners. pop it in the microwave and call it a day! I've seen Kitchenaid run a few ads on Food TV during the daytime for their stand mixer. The price for the stand mixer is about the normal for the model they're offering. $299.99 if I remember right. The thing that caught my eye was it came with a few free attachments I think one was the pasta maker and the other was an option for either the ice cream maker or a meat grinder. so you're getting $120.00 worth of add ons for free. keep your eyes open for it, then again I bet if you go to kitchenaids website they would have that listed.
