| Member | Decided to try out making some homemade sausage or the first time. Noah and I had been at Whole Foods picking up some basics, and picked up some ground pork because it's one of the cheaper meats. We decided to make 2 kinds of sausage... split the pound in half, seasoned, and froze the patties. The first kind came out tasting *exactly* like your typical breakfast sausage. Now being that both of us like the less traditional flavored sausages, this was the pick. Very good. Still more of a traditional breakast recipe, but just nicely sweet and a good fennel kick. Would eat again! Maple Fennel Country Sausage Patties 1 teaspoon coarse salt 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper 1 teaspoon fennel seeds 1 pound ground pork 2 tablespoons maple syrup 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil Combine salt and pepper, fennel in the bottom of a bowl. Add pork and mix to combine spices. Pour 2 tablespoons maple syrup over the pork and work the meat again to combine the maple syrup. Form meat into patties, 2 to 3 inches round. Cook patties in 1 tablespoon oil in a nonstick skillet over medium high heat 4 or 5 minutes on each side. Drain sausage patties on towel lined plate, then serve. | I'd highly recommend buying a whole piece of fatty pork and grinding it up yourself in the food processor, or ask the meat guy at the store to do it for you. Fresh ground meat just taste so much better. Thanks for the recipe! Wanna try your hand at making fresh scrapple? MMMMMmmmmmmmmm |

| Member | I should try that sometime... the reason I've been getting the ground pork is it's one of the cheaper meats you can pick up at Whole Foods. I'll have to see what a hunk of pork runs. I know they have a full service meat counter so they could grind it there. Scrapple? Was ist das? |
