Default BBQ Cornish Hens w/pineapple orange glaze

So the other night i wanted to cook something and had a couple game hens in the freezer. about all i had to go with it without buying stuff was some jasmine rice. so I looked around for some things to do with the hens and found a good sauce.

I basically used this recipe from Food network and modified it to my liking:
Pineapple Glazed Game Hens Recipe: Recipes: Food Network

Glaze:
Juice, from 1 can pineapple slices
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon vinegar (any type)
2 tablespoons olive oil

Hens:
2 cornish game hens, about 1 1/2 pounds each
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the glaze, cook pineapple juice over medium heat until it has reduced to 2 tablespoons. Stir in 2 tablespoons olive oil and curry powder and cook for 1 minute more. Take off heat and stir in vinegar.

OK, so here's what i did differently. I added about 1/2 cup of orange juice in with the pineapple juice and cooked it down just like the recipe. I added the oil and curry, and took one of the pineapple slices and crushed it up and put it in the sauce.

I prepared the hens just as the recipe, but didn't broil them as in the original recipe. I also added a few slices of orange in the cavity of the hen. I BBQ'ed them with some nice real mesquite charcoal, on the "cool" side of the grill for about 45 minutes. They came out with an awesome golden brown color, perfect. about 10 minutes before taking them off, i started brushing the glaze on them every few minutes, careful to save some glaze to put on top when i plated them.

What i did with the rice was make the coconut rice w/ edamame and leeks that's in the vegetarian section. It turned out great.

I also steamed some asparagus to go along with it, had some ceasar salad, and for the bread, i got some flatbread and rubbed olive oil and herbs on it and grilled it.

overall, the dinner came together well, and it all went well together. I have never BBQed game hens before, always baked em, but i am definitely going to be bbqing them from now on.
