Question My daughter-in-law is a vegetarian

My daughter-in-law is a vegetarian.
Not a strict one though.
She doesn't like the texture of meat and doesn't like the taste of mushrooms which is usually a meat replacement in a lot of dishes.
She will bring her own food to the BBQ which is usually veggie burgers or a merrinaided piece of firm tofu to grill.
I would like to surprise her some time with a good grilled or smoked meal.
any and all suggestions are welcomed.

Thanx in advance

How does she feel about tofu? You can do a lot of good stuff with tofu.
Outside of mushrooms and tofu, I can't think of anything off the top of my head that would be filling like meat unless it's highly processed.

You say she doesnt like mushrooms, I wonder if thats because she really doesnt like mushrooms or shes never had any "good" mushrooms.

Come to think of it... My very first recipe listing on this website (note bad picture lighting)

Mushroom Risotto

swap out chicken broth for veggie broth, and swap out the mushrooms for asparagus.

Mmmmmm I love this stuff.

Eggplant is another one you could try in recipes that call for mushrooms. My wife is a veggie, she actually does not like eggplants, but has experimented with it. I like them.
